(Golden Dawn: Path from Tiphareth to Netzach, Hebrew Letter נ Nun, Sign ♏ Scorpio)
Pathworking
Close your eyes. Breathe deeply three times. Feel yourself standing in the dazzling white brilliance of Kether, the Crown of the Tree of Life.
Before you stretches the fourteenth path — a dark yet luminous river of transformation connecting Tiphareth (6) to Netzach (7). The Hebrew letter נ Nun flows like a serpent through the depths; the sign of ♏ Scorpio carries the intense scent of deep earth, incense, and the sting of necessary endings.
You step onto the path.
A skeletal figure appears — Death. Cloaked in black armour on a white horse, he rides forward carrying a black banner emblazoned with a white rose. Beneath his scythe, a king, child, maiden, and priest all fall, while the sun rises on the horizon. Scorpio’s sting clears beauty for victory. The old dies, birthing the new in a cycle of profound change.
The path itself whispers the Dignified Keywords:
Transformation
Endings
Renewal
Let them sink into your heart. This is the great liberator that clears the way for rebirth and evolution.
Now reach into your pocket and put on the Magical Spectacles. The lenses shimmer with silver light. Instantly the scene changes.
The horse rears in terror; the scythe swings wildly or freezes mid-air. The figures remain trapped in decay. Through the spectacles you now clearly see the Ill-Dignified Keywords and their symbols:
Ill-Dignified Keywords:
Fear
Loss
Stasis
Dread freezes the inevitable. The shell remains, blocking rebirth with refusal.
Observe without fear. These are the shadow warnings of the same path.
Remove the spectacles. The majestic figure of Death returns, riding calmly forward as the sun rises behind him, acknowledging the transformation you have embraced.
It is time to return to Kether. As you walk back along the transformative path of Nun, feel the purifying Scorpio energy guiding you home with release and renewal.
On your return you acknowledge:
The previous card you walked was 12: The Hanged Man, the Water surrender and profound insight.
You now look forward to the next path working: 14: Temperance, where Sagittarius alchemy and patient balance await.
Take three more breaths. Gently open your eyes.
You have walked the fourteenth path. Death has brought new life.
